Marco Alex is a storyteller in oil, creating emotionally charged, narrative-driven paintings that preserve memory, solitude, and fleeting human connection. The strongest influence on his work is the narrative realism of Jack Vettriano— whose cinematic scenes and tension-filled moments resonate deeply in Marco’s approach to storytelling through paint. In addition to Vettriano’s influence, Marco draws inspiration from the psychological solitude of Edward Hopper, the masterful detail and refinement of John Singer Sargent, the provocative boldness of Édouard Manet, and the vivid, atmospheric palette of Claude Monet. These foundations inform a body of work that is nostalgic yet modern, intimate yet universal — grounded in light, realism, and emotional truth.
